The CRAFT-VET project is a game-changer for Albania’s vocational education and craft sector, bridging tradition with digital innovation, sustainability, and market access. Despite Albania’s rich history of craftsmanship in woodworking, filigree jewelry, stone carving, and textiles, the sector faces declining youth engagement, outdated training, limited digital skills, and weak international recognition.
This project directly addresses these challenges by modernizing VET programs, equipping artisans with digital tools, and creating new business opportunities. Through Smart Craft Labs in VET schools, artisans and students will gain hands-on experience in 3D modeling, blockchain certification, and e-commerce strategies. A dedicated digital craft marketplace will enable them to reach EU buyers, ensuring sustainable income. Training will focus on zero-waste production methods, empowering artisans to integrate circular economy principles into their work. The project also strengthens the legal protection of Albanian crafts by advocating for Geographical Indication (GI) certification, enhancing their global competitiveness.
Led by a highly experienced international consortium, including VET institutions, research centers, private enterprises, and civil society organizations from North Macedonia, Greece, and Albania, the project ensures effective knowledge transfer, capacity building, and sustainable impact. CRAFT-VET is not just about training; it is about transforming Albania’s craft industry into a competitive, future-ready sector. By combining education, technology, and entrepreneurship, this project will create lasting opportunities for artisans, empowering them to succeed in the digital economy while preserving Albania’s cultural heritage.
